How to Watch the Twilight Saga with your Significant Other

Coming to a Theater Near You
With the Eclipse DVD coming out December 4 and two more movies still to go until the Twilight saga is complete, fans will be packing the theaters and couches a little longer yet to bask in the latest rendition of the saga. Unlike the wide appeal of Harry Potter, aficionados of the Twilight phenomenon consist mostly of women. Unfortunately, if you are a woman who enjoys the movies and can’t experience it with other girls desiring to escape into a world of danger and star-crossed love or even if you just want to share the love of the story with a significant other, chances are that the significant other hates Twilight. Or, if you’re fortunate, is mildly annoyed by it. By now, you have already seen some of the intense ire directed at the saga, which seems more than a little hokey to guys. Yet if it’s your penchant to snuggle up with your sweetie in a dark room with this saga, be relieved that there is a surefire way to get him – and even his friends -- to watch the saga. Just be warned. The solution is not what you might expect.
The surprising and very entertaining solution I have stumbled upon is Rifftrax. Made by the people who did Mystery Science Theater, Rifftracks continues the trend of making fun of movies while the movie is playing. Getting Rifftrax online as an mp3 is easy. However, the process of setting up the Rifftrax with the movie can be a little tedious at times when the timing isn't synced, but it is well worth the effort. Consequently, Rifftrax are available for Twilight and New Moon and will likely be available for Eclipse and the other movies when they come out. While this doesn't solve the theater dilemmna, I have discovered that my significant other (and myself included) have gone to the theater to see latest versions of the Twilight saga in anticipation of seeing how Rifftrax would comment on the film.
Although watching Rifftrax with the Twilight movie isn't overly romantic, it is actually quite entertaining. When Twilight came out on DVD, my husband, his friends and some of his family and I sat around having a veritable good time laughing at the mistakes pointed out by the commentators of Rifftracks. While the story wasn't enjoyed in the serious, romantic way that it was intended to be enjoyed as, sitting around laughing at some comment made about the film added another level of enjoyment to the experience. Rifftrax consequently is where the Twihard fan and critic can meet on peaceful ground (save for the kind of fan that wants to preserve the story without the added humor). And consequently, it is the most surefire way to sit next to your hon and watch this film. Just be prepared for a few laughs along the way.
